Limitations of Traditional Career Forecasting Tools

Psychometric Test Tools although have been useful in depositing new research in Career Testing, and predictions, fail to provide a holistic assessment and related career forecasts. Some of the known limitations are:

  • Fairly manual and subjective
  • Mainly for college level students or specific job requirements
  • Merely focused on academic careers at the expense of non-academic potentials
  • No Standardization in the psychometric tools currently used

The most important limitation, however, is the inability for these tools to find innate potential based on physiological characteristics that are mainly anthropometric i.e. involves the overall human metrics and stature. This will be more apparent if you think of someone with unique sense of smell or taste YET the Psychometric Tests concentrate on “known and traditional careers” to “match” abilities, personality types, etc. and fit in academic spheres.

Most current research is involved in understanding the whole human. This is now focused in three main and combined areas namely:

  • Psychology
  • Anthropometry
  • Brain Metrics

Any technology that can combine these and relate to a single human will definitely become revolutionary in providing accurate human career predictions. Experts have predicted that networked Artificial Intelligence (AI) together with related Data Mining rubrics will amplify code-driven systems that will provide interlinks, as above, and offer previously unimagined opportunities and unprecedented career forecasting engines.
